Approximately $200 million will be spent to construct a two-tier retaining wall along the section of the Gordon Town road in St Andrew which has been blocked by a breakaway.
Prime Minister Andrew Holness who conducted a tour of the roadway on the weekend, said the National Works Agency (NWA) has proposed solutions for repairing the breakaway to reconnect communities and allow the flow of traffic.
NWA Communication Manager, Stephen Shaw says that the design for the retaining wall has been completed.
He added that the retaining wall should be completed within four months and the NWA has created several alternative routes to give residents faster access to the city.
Meanwhile,  Shaw says the National Works Agency plans to intensify its road patching programme in the coming days.
