With only 14 thousand parents having applied for the 20 thousand dollar device incentive offered by the Education Ministry to help with purchasing of devices for online learning, the Ministry says it will be extending the program deadline until the end of December.
The application was initially set to close today (Fri).
Under the Own Your Own Device incentive program, the Education Ministry had planned to give out 36 thousand vouchers to eligible parents to offset the cost of digital devices for their children.
Acting Permanent Secretary in the Education Ministry Dr. Grace McLean, gave an update on the program at yesterday’s meeting of the Public Administration and Appropriations Committee PAAC.
Dr. McLean indicated that the distribution of the vouchers should begin in the next two weeks.
