Police Commissioner Major General Antony Anderson has announced that special response teams have been established to target illegal parties during the Christmas period.
Speaking during a virtual media briefing Wednesday afternoon, General Anderson said criminals have been targeting illegal parties to carryout shootings and other violent attacks.
He said persons who attend these events do so at significant risk, recalling recent incidents in Westmoreland, Braeton in Portmore, St. Catherine and another in Grant’s Pen, St. Andrew, where illegal parties resulted in shootings or people being killed or badly injured.
General Anderson said the response teams will strictly enforce the Disaster Risk Management Act and the Noise Abatement Act.
He urged members of the public to inform the police about illegal gatherings.
