Recording artiste Popcaan is here with a message to Nigerians during this tough time.

Poppy made a post on the gram this morning saying “To my fans in Nigeria I just want all of you to know that my prayers are with you during this tough time, keep the faith and stay strong, prayers up for my Nigerian brothers and sisters.” he went on to caption the post by telling his Nigerian fans that he saw the messages they sent.

This message though comes after Nigerians shared their stories about police brutality in the most populous African country. Protesting against Special Anti-Robbery Squad, or SARS Nigerian police unit. It is said that over the years, there have been public records of SARS committing acts of corruption, stealing and extorting money and unlawfully arresting and detaining young people across the country.

Activists have campaigned against SARS for years, and violent videos that surfaced online this week shone a fresh spotlight on what demonstrators condemned as police brutality. Nigerian celebrities took up the cause, by helping with the hashtag #EndSARS go viral.

Despite all of this, the government of Nigeria has refused to take action.
