About 35,000 people who applied for benefits under Jamaica’s CARE programme are yet to collect their payments.

The Ministry of Finance says 25,000 of those payments sent to banks were not paid because the accounts could not be validated, while the other 10,000 payments which were sent to remittance agencies have also been returned to the ministry.

Financial Secretary Darlene Morrison told Thursday’s meeting of the Public Administration and Appropriations Committee PAAC that the ministry is now seeking to have the payments made.
