Health and Wellness Minister Dr. Christopher Tufton has confirmed that triple world record holder Usain Bolt has tested positive for COVID-19.

The confirmation came at yesterday’s COVID-19 press conference, where it was revealed that a total of 83 persons tested positive for the virus in the last 24 hours.

The eight time Olympic champion earlier yesterday revealed that he had placed himself in voluntary isolation.

The legendary sprinter Bolt, was tested on Saturday, a day after he was in attendance at a surprise birthday party, to celebrate his 34th birthday.

Reggae Boy Leon Bailey of German club Bayer Leverkussen and England International Raheem Sterling of English Premier League Club Manchester City, both of whom recently arrived in the island, were also in attendance at the party on Friday morning.

Minister Tufton while confirming Bolt’s positive status says he has been formally notified. He also added that the rules will be applied if quarantine orders have been broken.
