A remake of the popular sitcom Fresh Price Of Bel Air is well on its way. This will be a dramatic take on the iconic show, providing a deeper look into the “inherent conflicts, emotions and biases of what it means to be a Black man in America today,” according to The Hollywood Reporter’s sources.

So apparently a trailer with the remake of Bel- Air went viral March of last year. The trailer was produced by Morgan Cooper, which somehow caught the attention of will smith.

So Will hosted a meeting with Mr. Cooper to talk about the body of his work, take a listen…

Bel-Air is a one-hour, dramatic retelling of the sitcom, The Fresh Prince of Bel-Air, that leans into the original premise of Will Smith complicated journey from the streets of West Philadelphia to the gated mansions of Bel-Air. With a reimagined vision, Bel-Air this now should dive deeper into the conflicts, emotions and biases of what it means to be a Black man in America today, while still delivering the style and fun to the original show.

The Fresh Prince of Bel-Air ran from 1990-1996 on NBC and was produced by Jones, Warner Bros. TV and what became Universal Television. Smith starred alongside James Avery, Alfonso Ribeiro, Karyn Parsons, Tatyana M. Ali, Joseph Marcell and Janet Hubert-Whitten/Daphne Maxwell Reid.

The reboot is currently being offered for streaming on major streaming platforms; Netflix, Peacock and HBO Max.
