Jamaicans will be going to the polls next month, to select the Political Party and Members of Parliament for the next five years.

Parliament will be dissolved tomorrow August 13, to be followed by Nomination Day on August 18, then the General Election on September 3.

Prime Minister Andrew Holness made the announcement in the lower house yesterday (Tues), urging Jamaicans to ensure that the upcoming General Election is peaceful and that they adhere to coronavirus guidelines.

Nomination Day is set for August 18, while General Election is set for September 3.

He said discussions are being held with representatives from the political parties on the Campaign Covid guidelines and once agreed to, these will become part of the orders under the Disaster Risk Management Act.
