US Senator Kamala Harris has been selected to become the running mate for presumptive Democratic Presidential nominee Joe Biden.
Harris will be the first black woman and first Asian-American woman to run for Vice President, at a moment when the USA is grappling with its racial past and future.
Her father is Jamaican and her mother is Indian.
55 year old Harris, served as San Francisco District Attorney and then California General, before being elected into the US Senate in 2010.
She is only the third female Vice Presidential candidate to be place atop the ticket of one of the two major parties, in the last 40 years.
