Former supermodel Tyra Banks keeps breaking barriers for black women.
On Wednesday, Tyra was a guest on Good Morning America for her first interview since the big announcement of her as the new host and executive producer of Dancing With The Stars.
ABC revealed Tuesday in a press release that Tyra would be taking over the reality show from previous host Tom Bergeron and Erin Andrews. This is the first time the show has brought on a black host.
Prior to her upcoming stint as DWTS host, the television personality was a co-host of America’s Got Talent. During the show’s 12th season, she hosted her own talk show, The Tyra Banks Show and she was the creator of America’s Next Top Model.
In her first interview, she stated how she felt about the new hosting role…
She also stated how she feels about being the first black solo female host DWTS.
The supermodel has been knocking down barriers from early in her career. Banks was the first Black model on both the cover of Victoria’s Secret catalog and the Sports Illustrated swimsuit issue and she was also the first female model to cover men’s mag, GQ.
Currently, the new season of Dancing with the Stars is set to premiere this month on ABC.
