At least one of two teens reportedly found in possession of a stolen motor vehicle at a check point in the Kingston Eastern Division yesterday, is to be charged with impersonating the police.

Reports are that about 8:15 am, the driver of a Mazda motorcar, was signaled to stop at the State of Emergency checkpoint along the Windward Road/Commission Road intersection.

He complied and allegedly told police officers that he was a member of the Jamaica Constabulary Force.

However when asked to produce identification, the driver presented a card that did not match his particulars.

This aroused the police officer’s suspicion and checks with Police Emergency Communications Center revealed that the vehicle had been stolen in Seaview Gardens Kingston 11 on Friday February 7.

The occupants of the car, one of them 18 years old and the other 17, were arrested.

Other charges including breaches of the Larceny Act are being explored.
