Culture Minister Olivia Grange has announced a number of events that will lead up to the funeral former Prime Minister Edward Seaga on June 23.

Among the events are a tribute planned for the Little Theatre in Kingston.

Ms Grange says the body of the late former Prime Minister will lie in state at various locations starting from Wednesday, through to the date of the funeral.

The locations include the headquarters of the Jamaica Labour Party in Kingston; Montego Bay Civic Centre in St James; a church in Ocho Rios; The Tivoli Gardens and Denham Town community centers and the National Arena.

Ms Grange said a period of mourning has been declared from June 19 to 22. In that period there will be no Government social activity, official functions will be postponed where possible and travel by government officials will be reduced. Flags will be flown at half-mast.

Miss Grange also announced a ‘nine nite’ to take place June 5 at Tivoli Gardens square.

Ms Grange said the funeral will commence at noon on Sunday, at the Holy Trinity Cathedral in Kingston. Interment will take place at Heroes Park.
