OVO boss, crowned by local fans as an honorary Jamaican, Drake has broken yet another record, this time for the number of Billboard Music Awards received by an artist, after picking up another 12 out of the 17 categories he was nominated in at last night’s event.
This now means the rapper has a total of 27 Billboard Awards to his name.
He won the biggest prize of the night, the award for Top artiste, beating the likes of Cardi B, Ariana Grande, Post Malone, and Travis Scott.
And of course, Drake thanked his mum for her “relentless effort” in his life during his acceptance speech.
Also, during his speech for the top Billboard 200 album, the rapper gave a shout out to Arya Stark. Take a listen…..
Now if you don’t know who Arya Stark is, she’s a fictional character in the HBO series The Game of Thrones. In Sunday’s episode, Arya did put in that work but if you have not seen the episode yet, mi nah spoil fi u.
But back to the Billboard Awards, the OVO rapper beat out his competition in the categories of ‘Top Artist’, ‘Top Male Artist’, ‘Top 200 Artist’, ‘Top 100 Artist’, ‘Top Rap Artist’, ‘Top Rap Male Artist’, ‘Top 200 Album’, ‘Top Rap Album’, all the major categories, he dominated.
Cardi B pretty much dominated for the females, taking home 6 awards for the night.
She walked away with the ‘Top Rap Female Artiste’, ‘Top Rap Song of the year for ‘I Like It’, ‘Top Hot 100 Song for ‘Girls Like You ft. Maroon 5’, ‘Top Collaboration’, ‘Top Radio Song’ and ‘Top Selling song’.
