11 year old karting protege Alex Powell has created history by becoming the first Jamaican to sign with a Formula One team.
The announcement revealed by Mercedes on its twitter page, sees Powell joining the junior program alongside 12 year old Italian Andrea Kimmi Anotonelli, Esteban Ocon and George Russell.
Powell who started racing with the Trinidad and Tobago Karting Association in 2016, joined the Jamaica Karting Association in January after winning the WSK Final Cup in the 60 Mini category.
