Prime Minister Andrew Holness has changed the date on which constituents of east Portland will go to the polls to elect a new member of parliament.
A release from the Office of the Prime Minister last evening stated that after further consideration and consultation, the by-election in East Portland will be on April 4, while nomination day will be on March 15.
The Prime Minister says this announcement supersedes that made last Friday.
The change takes into account, the public holiday of Ash Wednesday which falls on March 6 and which is an excluded day for the purpose of Section 21 of the Representation of the People Act.
