Legendary German Designer Karl Lagerfeld died in a hospital in Paris on Tuesday. Many people in the fashion industry have posed questions about his health since he missed 2 Chanel shows last month. It’s customary for Lagerfeld to walk on the runway at the end of every Chanel event since joining the fashion house in 1983. At the close of one of the January shows in Paris, the announcer wished Karl a quick recovery.
Karl’s official Instagram account put out a statement following his passing but it didn’t state his cause of death. However, one online blog alleges that Karl was diagnosed with pancreatic cancer before his death.
Karl Lagerfeld was the creative director of Fendi and Chanel. He worked closely with modeling legends like Linda Evangelista, Claudia Schiffer and Stella Tennant. More recently, he brought the likes of Kendall Jenner, Bella Hadid, Cara Delevingne, and Keira Knightley into the fold at Chanel as models.
