Newcomers Mount Pleasant FC strengthened their claim for a top-six placing following a dramatic 2-1 win over 7th placed Tivoli Gardens.

This on the Matchday 27 encounter in the red stripe national premier football league at Draxhall yesterday.

There was high drama in the 42nd minute as Tivoli Gardens goalkeeper Davin Watkis was given marching orders after he allegedly assaulted one of the assistant referees which led to a brawl that held up the game for close to 10 minutes.

When the dust settled, Mount Pleasant was awarded a penalty in first-half stoppage time, Francois Swaby converted from the spot and handed the host the lead.
