A 22-year-old woman was reportedly chased and shot dead by a businessman, who later used the weapon to take his own life in St James on Friday.

Police have identified the deceased as Wendy Scarlett, a resident of German Town, Westmoreland and Junior Wint, a 47-year-old businessman of Moore Park in St James.

Reports are that at about 3:30 p.m., residents heard loud explosions in the Flamstead Gardens area of the parish and alerted the police.

A search was conducted and the bodies of the two, who were said to be in a relationship, found.

Sources from the area said Wint and Scarlett got involved in a heated argument when Wint reportedly pulled his licensed firearm and attacked the female.

Reports are that the woman ran but was chased by Wint to a section of the Flamstead Gardens main road where she was cornered and fatally shot.

Sources say a few minutes later Wint shot and killed himself.
