The government will be going after the more than 14,000 illegal taxis operating across the island this year.
That’s according to Minister of Transport Robert Montague.
Delivering an address at the transport stakeholders conference in Downtown Kingston today, the minister said it was not fair, for legal operators to be pressured by the authorities, while robot operators were given free reign.
The minister said the government must develop a transport sector that is fitting for the country.
In that regard, he has written to the justice minister asking for stiffer fines for robot taxis.
