The University of the West Indies says no foul play was suspected in the death of the woman whose body was found partially submerged in a pond on the University’s Mona campus this morning.

The body of 69-year-old Judith Rowe-Spencer, a medical doctor of Great House Boulevard in Mona, St. Andrew, was reportedly discovered around 7:30 am in a pond behind the University’s chapel.

In a release this afternoon, The University said a preliminary assessment of the scene by members of the medical services division of the Jamaica Constabulary Force indicates that no foul play is expected.

The University further notes that an assessment by campus security indicates that while there is no threat to any member of the University community, security on the campus has been increased.
