The music fraternity has lost another legend.
Veteran Dancehall and Gospel Reggae artiste Lieutenant Stitchie has died at age 60.
Stitchie, born Cleveland “Cleve” Laing, died at a Kingston hospital earlier today (September 28), just a day before his 61st birthday.
The "Fast & Pray" singer had been receiving medical care since suffering a debilitating stroke in September 2024.
His music career began on the Spanish Town sound system circuit in the early 1980s. He gained mainstream attention with “Wear Yuh Size” in 1986 and released his debut album, Great Ambition, the following year.
Stitchie later signed with Atlantic Records before shifting to gospel reggae after a 1997 car accident. He went on to release inspirational projects including To God Be the Glory and Real Power.
He leaves behind a career spanning more than four decades and a legacy across both Dancehall and Gospel Reggae.
Our deepest condolences to his family and friends!
