Dancehall deejay Masicka has claimed the top spot on YouTube’s Jamaica Artiste Chart, dethroning Chronic Law for the first time in years.
While Chronic Law maintained overall dominance across the summer with 30.1 million views between June and August, monthly metrics for August 3 to August 30 show Masicka surging to number one with 10.1 million views. Chronic Law fell to second place with 9.17 million views, followed by Skippa in third with 8.53 million views.
Masicka’s chart takeover comes on the heels of his latest album release, Reign, which has driven heavy streaming traffic across digital platforms.
The project’s momentum is clearly reflected on the YouTube Trending music chart for Jamaica, where Masicka holds multiple spots in the top five.
Key tracks driving the album's success include "Honor Roll" featuring Kraff Gad at over 2.2 million views, his collaboration with Damian "Jr. Gong" Marley titled "1 Psalm" at 1.9 million views, and "Pointless" approaching the one-million-view milestone.
