Cardi B wanted a simple, summery New York street video. Instead, she got a $1 million production bill, 40 NYPD officers, and a whole lot of headaches.
While chatting with fans on X Spaces, Cardi said she expected her “AH HA” video to cost around $250,000. But after dealing with permits, multiple locations, and police presence, the price ballooned to more than $1 million, a number she believes was partly due to being Cardi B.
She originally hoped to film on a small block in the Bronx, but the production ended up in Sunset Park, Brooklyn, where hundreds of people gathered to watch the shoot. Cardi said the large crowds and heavy police presence made filming anything but easy.
Even though she thinks the final video turned out “great,” the experience left her seriously over the whole public-shooting thing. Her takeaway? Next time, Cardi wants a closed set, fewer people, and significantly fewer NYPD plot twists.
