Hayden Panettiere’s mother, Lesley Vogel, is speaking out after the actress’s death at 36, specifically criticising her daughter’s on-off boyfriend, Brian Hickerson.
Vogel said Hickerson was the person the family had been trying “to get rid of for quite some time” and expressed distress that he was with Hayden when she died.
Police confirmed Hickerson was at the Greenville, South Carolina, apartment when Hayden was found unresponsive on August 16.
Authorities said the investigation is ongoing and that there were no initial signs of foul play or suspicious circumstances.
Hayden’s cause of death has not yet been revealed.
Vogel also said she takes comfort in believing Hayden is now at peace with her late brother, Jansen Panettiere.
