Pop star and Barbadian Native Rihanna has become Barbados’ only living National Hero following the passing of cricket legend Sir Garfield Sobers.
Prime Minister Mia Amor Mottley described the moment as a symbolic passing of the torch, praising Rihanna for representing Barbados with pride on the global stage.
Rihanna honoured Sobers, saying she was “honored to carry the torch” and acknowledging the legacy he leaves behind.
Sobers, widely regarded as one of cricket’s greatest players, was celebrated with a state funeral marking his immense contribution to Barbados.
