World Cup winner Rodri is set to undergo surgery on a back issue on Monday, Manchester City manager Enzo Maresca has confirmed.
The Spain captain returned to top form during the World Cup but has struggled with injuries at club level in recent seasons.
Maresca said Rodri will need time to rest and recover but dismissed speculation about a possible move to Real Madrid.
The midfielder’s return date remains unclear as City prepare for the new season.
