The Statistical Institute of Jamaica, STATIN, says the country's Consumer Price Index increased by 0.8 per cent in June 2026.
STATIN says the increase was driven mainly by a 4.3 per cent rise in transport costs following higher route taxi and hackney carriage fares, along with a 0.7 per cent increase in food prices due to higher costs for vegetables such as carrots, cabbages, onions and sweet peppers.
The institute adds that higher household rental rates and electricity charges also contributed to the increase, with the Housing, Water, Electricity, Gas and Other Fuels division rising 0.5 per cent.
Meanwhile, Jamaica's point-to-point inflation rate for the 12 months ending June 2026 stands at 6.7 per cent.
