US President Donald Trump has threatened new tariffs on Canada, blaming the country for smoke from hundreds of wildfires spreading into the United States.
President Trump accused Canada of “willful negligence” in managing forests, while Ontario Premier Doug Ford urged the US to provide firefighting support instead of criticism.
Canada is currently battling about 888 active wildfires, with many burning out of control, including more than 190 in Ontario.
The tariff threat adds to ongoing tensions between the two countries over trade, climate issues, and diplomatic relations.
