US President Donald Trump and Iraqi Prime Minister Ali al-Zaidi met at the White House, pledging to strengthen economic ties, expand oil production and deepen investment between the two countries.
President Trump praised Prime Minister al-Zaidi and said several energy deals were planned, while the Iraqi leader described the visit as the start of a new economic partnership.
Both leaders said the remaining US troops in Iraq would withdraw by September 30, with PM al-Zaidi also reaffirming plans to disarm armed factions.
Mr. Al-Zaidi further called for a larger OPEC oil production quota to help Iraq rebuild after years of conflict and economic damage.
