Britain has designated Microsoft, Google, Amazon and Oracle as critical third-party suppliers to its financial sector.
The move places the cloud providers under direct regulatory oversight to strengthen cyber resilience and reduce disruption risks.
The companies will be jointly supervised by the Bank of England, the Prudential Regulation Authority and the Financial Conduct Authority.
The new rules take effect on July 13 and require resilience testing, self-assessments and reporting of major incidents.
