British-Jamaican actor Micheal Ward was found not guilty on Friday of rape, sexual assault and related charges following a trial at London's Snaresbrook Crown Court over allegations dating back to 2023.
The 28-year-old Top Boy star broke down in tears after the jury's verdict, having maintained throughout the case that the encounter was consensual.
Ward has starred in Blue Story, The Book of Clarence and Eddington, and won the BAFTA Rising Star Award in 2020.
His lawyer said the actor, who had put his career on hold during the three-year legal process, is now looking forward to returning to work.
