Foreign Affairs Minister Kamina Johnson Smith has announced that Jamaica is providing humanitarian assistance to Venezuela following devastating earthquakes that caused widespread loss of life, injuries and displacement.
She said the aid reflects Jamaica’s appreciation for Venezuela’s support after Hurricane Melissa and highlights the countries’ longstanding ties.
Jamaica’s contribution forms part of a broader CARICOM relief effort coordinated by Guyana.
The earthquakes have killed thousands, injured more than 16,700 people and left many communities struggling to recover.
