Egypt Calls for FIFA Probe into World Cup Refereeing Decisions

Share

The Egyptian Football Association has asked FIFA to investigate the refereeing team after Egypt’s World Cup last-16 defeat by Argentina, claiming there were “double standards” in officiating.

Egypt protested decisions including a disallowed Mostafa Zico goal and a missed penalty appeal involving Mohamed Salah during Argentina’s 3-2 win.

The EFA called for the referee and VAR officials to be removed from the tournament, accusing them of serious errors and unfair treatment.

Egypt coach Hossam Hassan and player Zico also criticised the decisions, while FIFA has been contacted for a response.
