Former Director of Public Prosecutions Paula Llewellyn has condemned reports that a Portmore primary school separated its graduating class based on academic performance, calling it "a sad day for education."
The Ministry of Education has also criticised the school's actions, saying they are inconsistent with the standards of care expected for children.
Ms.Llewellyn said educators have a responsibility to build every child's confidence and potential, regardless of their grades.
She urged the school to apologise if the reports are accurate and stressed that every child deserves equal value and respect.
