Former US President Barack Obama, who served from 2009 to 2017, and former first lady Michelle Obama have officially opened the Obama Presidential Center in Chicago.
The campus, located on the South Side’s Jackson Park, blends museum exhibits with community spaces such as a library, playground and sports facilities.
The opening ceremony was attended by dignitaries including former presidents Joe Biden, George W. Bush and Bill Clinton alongside their spouses.
Michelle Obama and Barack Obama both spoke at the event, describing the centre as a “living celebration of community” rather than a traditional memorial.
