A high court in Kenya has temporarily suspended plans for a U.S.-backed Ebola quarantine facility, according to court documents.
Judge Patricia Nyaundi ruled that individuals exposed to or infected with Ebola would not be permitted entry into the country, effectively halting the proposal.
The United States had been planning to establish a medical facility in Kenya to treat and isolate Americans exposed to Ebola during the outbreak in the Democratic Republic of Congo.
Officials said the aim was to provide faster access to care and reduce risks associated with long-distance medical evacuation. The decision adds a legal and diplomatic hurdle to international efforts to manage the ongoing outbreak in the region.
