Ministry of Labour and Social Security will establish the Standards, Accountability and Fairness in Employment (SAFE) Task Force to improve oversight and workplace compliance in Jamaica’s BPO sector.
Labour Minister Pearnel Charles Jr. said the initiative will focus on worker engagement, rights education, wellness, and collaboration with employers rather than punishment.
The ministry will also introduce a Decent Work Partnership Recognition Programme to encourage strong labour practices across industries.
He added that plans for an unemployment insurance benefit are progressing, with implementation expected within the next two years.
