Tom Kane, the iconic voice actor known for portraying Yoda in Star Wars: The Clone Wars and Professor Utonium in The Powerpuff Girls, has died at age 64.
Kane passed away yesterday (May 18) in a Kansas City hospital due to complications from a stroke he suffered in 2020, according to his agent. He was surrounded by family.
Kane began voice acting at just 15 years old and built a career filled with iconic roles. Alongside Yoda, he voiced characters including Admiral Ackbar, Boba Fett, and Qui-Gon Jinn in the Star Wars universe. His voice could also be heard as Professor Utonium and HIM in The Powerpuff Girls, Darwin in The Wild Thornberrys, Mr. Herriman in Foster's Home for Imaginary Friends, and Woodhouse in Archer.
Before stepping away from voice acting following his stroke, Kane once described Yoda as his favorite role, joking that his second favorite, Professor Utonium, was a perfect fit because he was “a big dorky dad” just like the character.
