Taugea Ubert Dayes, popularly known as “Countree Hype,” has pleaded guilty to firearms and ammunition trafficking-related charges in the United States.
According to the U.S. Attorney’s Office, Dayes admitted to smuggling goods from the U.S. and delivering a firearm to a common carrier without written notice.
Court records allege that he concealed 30 firearms, magazines and ammunition inside office chairs before shipping them from the U.S. to Jamaica in March 2025.
Jamaican authorities reportedly seized the shipment in Kingston days later after the items were discovered hidden inside the furniture.
Dayes now faces up to 10 years in federal prison, with sentencing to be determined by a federal judge.
Countree hype has produced songs such as SHHH by Intence, Rasta by Valiant and has worked with numerous artistes on several projects.
