Manchester United have reached an agreement to appoint Michael Carrick as their permanent head coach on a two-year deal, with an option for a further year.

The club’s hierarchy, including CEO Omar Berrada and director of football Jason Wilcox, has reportedly recommended the appointment to owners Ineos.

Carrick took over in January after the sacking of Ruben Amorim and has since guided United to a dramatic turnaround and Champions League qualification.

The club is aiming to complete contract formalities within 48 hours, with an announcement expected soon, possibly before the final game of the season.
