The Roast of Kevin Hart turned Netflix into a full-scale comedy battleground on Sunday night, with comedians, athletes, and celebrities taking turns roasting Kevin Hart in front of a packed crowd and an even louder internet audience.
Hosted by Shane Gillis during the Netflix Is a Joke Festival, the special featured appearances from stars including Tom Brady, Dwayne Johnson, Katt Williams, and Draymond Green.
One of the night’s standout moments came when Brady returned fire over the family jokes aimed at him during his 2024 roast, while Katt Williams’ appearance also grabbed attention because it seemingly marked a public cooling-off period in his long-running tension with Hart.
The two comedians, who previously traded public criticism over success, industry politics, and comedy careers, shared the stage with noticeably lighter energy, which was weird but... tasteful.
The evening also came with a vault of unaired material later revealed by roast writer Madison Sinclair, featuring even sharper jokes aimed at celebrities like Lizzo, Gillis, and others who caught stray shots whether they were ready or not.
By the end of the night, the roast felt less like a comedy special and more like a celebrity group chat accidentally projected onto Netflix in real time.
