ALANA REID WINS JAMAICA’S FIRST GOLD MEDAL AT WORLD ATHLETICS UNDER 20 CHAMPIONSHIP

Alana Reid had a terrific start and great execution through the girls 100m final and 11.17 seconds later, she cemented her status as world under 20 champion over the distance.

The world leader and former Hydel stand out gave Jamaica its first gold medal at the World Athletics Under 20 Championship in Lima, after winning the girls 100m final in 11.17 seconds.

A Caribbean 1-2-3 was completed when Adaejah Hodge (British Virgin Islands) grabbed the silver in 11.27s and Kishawna Niles (Barbados) took bronze after stopping the clock in 11.37s.

This marks the fourth straight time that Jamaica has won the event.
