The Nature Preservation Foundation (NPF) has launched an international fundraising campaign to save Hope Royal Botanic Gardens, facing an $88-million operating deficit.
The initiative is backed by the US-based Blue Mahoe Charitable Foundation, which will act as fiscal sponsor and enable tax-deductible donations.
NPF officials highlighted chronic infrastructure issues, low staff wages, and insufficient government subvention as key challenges.
The campaign aims to secure funding from the diaspora and global donors to preserve the historic 230-acre gardens and support biodiversity.
