Brandy officially received her star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame on Monday, using the moment to reflect on the dream that started when she was a child growing up in Los Angeles.
The singer and actress was honoured with the 2,839th star on the famed stretch of Hollywood Boulevard in recognition of her music career.
During the ceremony, Brandy appeared emotional as she addressed the crowd and spoke about seeing the Walk of Fame as a young girl.
Brandy explained that seeing the names embedded in the sidewalk inspired her from an early age.
The ceremony included remarks from Kenneth “Babyface” Edmonds, who helped shape one of the defining songs of Brandy’s early career.
Babyface recalled working with her on “Sittin’ Up in My Room,” which he wrote for the Waiting to Exhale soundtrack after Whitney Houston selected Brandy to record it.
