Welp, the atmosphere feels a little "Chilli".
Rozonda “Chilli” Thomas is hitting pause on the rumor mill and asking fans for a little grace.
The TLC icon recently found herself in unexpected hot water after federal records revealed she had donated over $1,000 to organizations tied to Donald Trump’s 2024 campaign. Cue confusion, backlash, and a flurry of side-eyes from fans.
But according to Chilli, the situation isn’t what it seems!
Taking to Instagram, the 55-year-old singer firmly shut down assumptions that she supports Trump or the MAGA movement. “I want to be clear,” she emphasized, “I am not MAGA and do not support policies that harm the American people.”
So, uhh, what happened? In her words: a classic case of not reading the fine print. Chilli explained that she believed she was contributing to causes she genuinely cares about which specifically are efforts supporting veterans and combating human trafficking. With a veteran father and a well-known love for children, those causes hit close to home.
“I’ve learned a valuable lesson,” she admitted, asking fans for patience as she navigates the fallout.
But that wasn’t the only mix-up.
Chilli also addressed a separate controversy involving a repost of a conspiracy theory about Michelle Obama. She called the situation “very concerning” and made it clear she has “utmost respect and admiration” for the former First Lady.
According to the "No Scrubs" singer, the repost was purely accidental, you know, a slip of the thumb while scrolling, compounded by her self-proclaimed lack of tech-savviness.
“I didn’t even know it happened until my phone started blowing up,” she explained.
For longtime fans, this isn’t Chilli’s first brush with controversy. Back in 2017, she raised eyebrows with an “all lives matter” comment during a discussion about police brutality; remarks that were widely criticized at the time.
