Jamaica’s World Cup Hopes Hang by a Thread After 0–0 Draw

Share

Many Jamaicans were hopeful of a win for the Reggae Boyz last night (November 18) but were left seriously disappointed.
With a packed National Stadium, Jamaica were held to a 0–0 (NILL ALL) draw by Curaçao in a crucial World Cup qualifier.
Jamaica improved after the break and hit the post three times, while Curaçao had a goal called offside.
A late red card to Jon Russell and a stoppage-time penalty that was overturned by VAR added to Jamaica’s frustrations.
The result means Curaçao qualify for the 2026 FIFA World Cup, becoming the smallest nation ever to do so. Jamaica must now advance from the Intercontinental Playoffs in order to make it to the World Cup. The playoffs are set for March 23-31, 2026.
