Mariah Carey Says She Doesn’t Like People Covering Her Songs

Share

R&B Legend Mariah Carey sat down with GQ magazine for a chit-chat ahead of her new album release set for this Friday.
Mimi was asked about a moment at the 2025 iHeart Music Awards earlier this year when Muni Long performed her hit single "We Belong Together" during her being honoured with the Icon Award.
What started the chatter online was when the camera panned to Mariah's face and she seemed mortified.
Carey quickly clarified that she could barely hear well in the venue and genuinely thought that Muni was singing her own song, "Made For Me", which she stated that to her sounded pretty similar to "We Belong Together".
Mimi stated that though she was flattered and honoured by the gesture, she does not like when other artistes perform her songs, but there is no beef.
Carey even contributed to a remix of Long's hit single "Made for Me" last year and collaborated on a 2015 single called "Infinity", where she co-wrote the track.
Mariah Carey's 16th album called Here For It All drops Friday, and fans are excited.
