Botswana has officially declared 29 September as a public holiday in recognition of the nation's historic victory in the men's 4x400m relay at the 2025 World Athletics Championships in Tokyo, Japan.
The quartet combined to edge the USA to gold and become the first African nation to win the event.
President of Botswana, Duma Boko, said the state will set aside the day before their official Independence Day (30 September) to celebrate their newly minted champions.
This euphoria is reminiscent of the celebration that followed Tebogo's historic men's 200m victory at the 2024 Olympic Games in Paris.
It was also a first event victory by an African athlete, and was honoured with a half-day holiday in Botswana.
