Pokémon Voice Actor Dies

The anime world has lost yet another beloved character.

The voice actor behind the Pokémon characters Misty and Jessie has died. Rachael Lillis passed away on Saturday, August 10. She was 46.

Lillis played the characters Misty and Jessie in the original Pokémon anime, as well as appeared in numerous video games and anime series.

Co-star Veronica Taylor, who plays the role of Ash Ketchum, made the death announcement via X this morning (August 12). “It is with a very heavy heart that I share the news of the passing of Rachael Lillis on Saturday evening, August 10, 2024. Rachael was an extraordinary talent, a bright light that shone through her voice whether speaking or singing. She will be forever remembered for the many animated roles she played, with her iconic performances as Pokémon’s Misty and Jessie being the most beloved,” Taylor said in her post.

Rachael Lillis was diagnosed with breast cancer in May of this year.
