Lila Iké lit up Night Two of Reggae Sumfest with a soulful and fiery performance, reminding fans that women can be both strong and stylish.
Speaking to the crowd at Catherine Hall, the singer shared a powerful message for young women: “You can be hot and sexy, do your hair, wear your nails, and still be militant, still be conscious, still have self-respect and morals.”
She gave props to reggae icon Tony Rebel in the crowd, saying, “What Rebel does isn’t different from what I’m doing. We’re all creatives expressing ourselves, just in our own way.”
Before launching into her hit Where I’m Coming From, Lila addressed her recent arrest for driving with a demo license plate and a passenger. “I felt so confused… only to come to Sumfest in the same car with the same passenger,” she joked. “The devil couldn’t stop this!”
Her set featured fan favourites like Second Chance, Thy Will, I Spy, Sweet Inspiration, and Wanted, along with a tribute to Freddie McGregor’s Prophecy. She hinted she had more to perform but ran out of time.
Still, Lila left her mark, gracefully blending message and music in true queen style.
